How MVCollect Auctions Work: Proxy Bidding, Anti-Snipe and Fees
MVCollect is an Australian auction site built for collectors. Here's exactly how buying works, so there are no surprises.
Proxy bidding: set your maximum once
When you bid, you enter the most you're willing to pay. MV bids on your behalf, only as much as needed to keep you in front, up to your maximum. Nobody else sees your maximum. If someone outbids it, you're told and can bid again.
Bid increments
| Current price | Each bid goes up by |
|---|---|
| Under $1,000 | $1 |
| $1,000 – $2,499 | $5 |
| $2,500 – $9,999 | $10 |
| $10,000 – $24,999 | $50 |
| $25,000 and up | $100 |
No sniping
Any bid placed in the final 5 minutes resets the countdown to 5:00. Everyone gets a fair chance to answer back, so an auction ends when bidding actually stops, not when someone times a last-second bid.
Buy It Now and offers
Some items are listed at a fixed price. You can buy straight away, or, where the seller allows it, make an offer.
What you pay
The price you see is the item price. On top of it is MV's buyer's premium, worked out on the sale price only (never on postage): 8% up to $250, 7% to $1,250, 6% to $2,500, 5% to $5,000, 4% to $7,500 and 3% above that. The total, including the premium, is shown before you bid or buy. Postage is shown on every listing.
How payment works
You pay the seller directly through PayPal Goods & Services, which includes PayPal's buyer protection. MV never holds your money. You can also ask the seller for a PayPal invoice, which you can pay by card.
Trust and safety
- Memorabilia must be PSA, JSA, BAS, UD or League certified to be listed.
- Sellers can add a packing photo when they post, and tracked postage is standard.
- If something goes wrong, you can open a dispute, and MV reviews the listing, photos and messages.
MV's Market Value guide shows real sold prices in Australian dollars, one exact card and grade at a time. Free, no account needed.
